Stress and strain analysis, viscoelasticity. Linear and non linear mechanical behaviour. Poisson’s ration, auxeticity. Axial and non-axial loading, von Mises model. Composite and heterogeneous materials, prestress, residual stress. Beam theory with biological examples. Buckling and local buckling. Arches and columns, thin-walled vessels.
