CIVE 219 — Introduction to Design in Civil Engineering

Introduction to design in the context of civil engineering and its sub-disciplines. Identification and formulation of problems. Definition of objectives, constraints and success criteria. The creative process, including idea generation, evaluation of options, and decision making. Conceptual designs considering technical and non-technical factors. Team-based collaborations and stakeholder engagement. Strategies for knowledge acquisition, planning, task allocation, execution, and delivery of projects. Written and oral communications.
