EDEC 229 — Experiencing Spatial Mathematics
Reintroduces geometry within a teacher education context through an experiential, embodied approach. Topics include isometries and symmetries, dilations, parallel transport, non-Euclidean geometries, Cavalieri’s Principle, the Pythagorean Theorem, basic constructions, and similar triangles. Involves engagement inmathematical inquiry within the field of geometry, including posing mathematical questions, constructing mathematical justifications, and reasoning about mathematical definitions.
