INTD 362 — Political Ecologies of Development

Examination of the environmental dimensions of development through the interdisciplinary framework of political ecology. Introduction to how power, inequality, governance, and economic interests shape human-environmental relations across local, national, and global scales. The theoretical foundations of political ecology and applying them to key development challenges such as resource extraction, land and water governance, conservation, urban pollution, and climate change. Critical examination of environmental problems as social and political processes.
