PSYT 550 — Suicide and Self-Harm

Introduction to suicide and self-harm behaviours epidemiology across the world. Main theoretical models to understand suicide and self-harm from a developmental, psychological, sociological, and neurobiological perspectives. Risk and protective factors for suicide and self-harm behaviour, and specificities of suicide and self-harm behaviours across age groups (childhood, adolescence, older adulthood), sexes and genders, and specific groups (e.g., Indigenous peoples). Elements of assessment of suicide risks, prediction of suicidal behaviours, and approaches to suicide prevention.
